The Bee Gees have been one of my two favorite groups since the late 60''s and when Main Course was originally released, I bought it immediately. That lp traveled with me from New York to San Francisco and back again among many other moves. It''s been played on great turntables and cartridges, and sadly on some that were not so good. I was very happy to see a new vinyl release of Main Course that would replace my scratched and noisy one.
This isn''t exactly the original package on RSO Records. Though given credit, Robert Stigwood had nothing to do with this record which is oddly issued on Capitol Records. The sound is very good, though dynamic range seems a bit constricted. All in all, it''s a fine reissue of one of the Bee Gees'' best albums with no remixing or remastering, and the cover and liner notes with lyrics are identical. Nights on Broadway, Winds of Change, Fanny (Be Tender With My Love) and so many more great songs (yes, Jive Talkin'' is here, too, though it''s one of my least favorite Bee Gees songs) all on a clear vinyl pressing. If you''ve never heard the lp. you''ll be surprised that the songs range from early disco to country. This album finds the Bee Gees at a time when their careers took off again after a lull, and it''s worth every penny.

I had a couple 45s from this LP back in the day. Decided to buy the whole thing. Super glad I did. This is my absolute favorite Bee Gee''s LP. It has some country infused songs, but the bulk is R&B. The songwriting, arranging and the trademark Bee Gees harmonies are all at top peak. To me this is their LP that they all came together on with the stars aligning and the result is a masterpiece. Love every song on it.

I have this album as a record, and was looking for it in CD, but it was rare and pricey. Now, it is affordable and great to have it in my CD collection. I think this is the first Bee Gees album that had their disco-era falsetto sound, which would characterize their biggest hits. But there''s no reason to not enjoy this album even if you prefer their older non disco stuff. Bee Gees is one of the greatest groups of all time, and this is a landmark album in my opinion, marking the success in the ''70s which they would enjoy.

You will expect at least a decent remastered process for this true gem, like they did in 2011 with Bee Gees First, Horizontal and Idea. But don''t let them fool you, this 2011 Main Course isn''t remastered at all. This one sound exactly the same as the 1994 Polydor version, even the cover art are better in polydor version than this 2011 made by rhino. It is very disappointment for all Bee Gees fans, especially when you see what other labels are made with other catalogues like Beatles or Jethro Tull.
I am not complaining about the music, the music here is great and we all love the Bee Gees and this album is one of the best. I really want this album with the appropriate remastered process, songs like Country Lanes, Songbird, Baby As You Turn Away and All This Making Love deserve a great remastered, the other songs are great too but we already have them in other compilations already remastered.
If you don''t have this album I strongly recommend to buy it. It is really great music, but if you already have the polydor version don''t bother on this one.

Excellent Bee Gees album. I was unsure if I should purchase this one or something else, but this was very highly recommended . . . and now that I have it, rightly so. All the songs on here are to be treasured. I''m just glad it was still available for purchase!

I had been looking for this album for ages as have on vinyl. It took me right back to the 70''s to when I played this over and over again. Jive Talkin'' was the first Bee Gees single ever bought and that is where the love affair started. I love All This Making Love it is a funny and amusing song. Come on Over is one of my favourites I love the lyrics. Wind of Change with Barry''s fantastic vocals and Robin''s haunting voice in Walking in a Country Lanes. Barry Gibb was a gorgeous man back then...I wanted to marry him....he still is still lovely as took my daughter to see him in Manchester last year, she is 30 and said one of the best concerts she had ever been to. Fabulous album.
